Windows Server Environment Engineer, Washington D.C.
STG is seeking a Windows Server Environment Engineer to support a Federal Agency customer in downtown Washington, DC. Infrequent travel (less than 10%) may be required.
MCSE-Server Infrastructure, MCSE-Private Cloud, VMWare Data Center Certified, Microsoft Server 2008R2, 2012R2, IAT II certification, and TOP SECRET clearance required. 6 years+ professional system engineering related experience required.
B.S. preferred. Experience will substitute for education level.
Experience with Federal Agencies preferred.
Key duties of the positions include:
Managing an existing operating environment management for over 90 systems, comprising several thousand servers currently in production across multiple domestic data centers, additional domestic locations, and over 200 overseas locations.
Design and maintain operating environments capable of automated switchover or failover with a minimal amount of human intervention.
Provide response, trouble-shooting and resolution of problems as well as communication, tracking via Remedy.
Server/workstations rebuilds VMware and standalone environments, management of Windows servers and the VMware environment supporting them.
Proactively track and manage availability, performance and capacity across the environment inclusive of infrastructure and services.
Perform capacity management, tracking utilization and growth trends, and projecting expansion needs proactively.
Produce and maintain standard operating procedures for use across infrastructure environment;
Troubleshoot technical incidents across the enterprise infrastructure environment, communicating status updates and escalating to other technical team to reach resolution.
MCSE-Server Infrastructure required
MCSE-Private Cloud required
VMWare Data Center Certified required
Microsoft Server 2008R2, 2012R2 certifications required.
